DISCONNECT YOURSELF

I'm still charmed and chastened by the amount of really fantastic music that comes out every month. You'd think the fount of rock and pop music would have run totally bone dry by now, right? You'd be wrong. Here are 21 modern assertions to the contrary, put together by me, for you, and available to listen on 8Tracks via your computer or mobile telephone. Just about everything came out in 2012, with maybe a song or two that I discovered in the past few months that came out a little earlier. You're cool with that, I'm hoping.

  3. Anonymous #1, I think what you're trying to say is that you're still sad that a label from 20 years ago isn't part of this mix I threw together, and that now that you're old, music not of that ilk is "indie crud". Did I get that right? Is ghandoff balls a band I should be checking out?

    Anonymous #2, I get it, but I'm trying not to do that any more. 8Tracks can be listened to not just on PC but any phone with a browser. You can get the app on smartphones as well. Much of this music is for sale, cheap, on the artists' Bandcamp pages, and some of it's free as well....since I paid for the majority of it, giving it out again for free then kind of negates the artist trying to make a couple of clams for themselves from it while it's still fresh.

  4. sorry jay.... I was not feeling ur mix at 1st, better 2nd time. I guess i am no longer drunk on drugs in sf, and i am cranky these days. Todays stuff boils down to oh sees and ty , alotta stuff sounds like stew meat to me these days? Ghandoff balls is a shocking condition involving white straw engulfing your set starting in your 4o's. bandname pending.

  5. No worries. Hopefully some of the stuff on this mix approaches Oh Sees/Ty levels of quality, though I've definitely got a female-singer fetish that a lot of my male brethren tend to shy away from. But "indie crud" - ouch, that smarts.
